Adding Paper Trays

The PDF printer is built without any paper trays or paper bins. However, sometimes the printing program require that you select a specific tray of paper before you can print. I will show you how you can modify the printer definition file to make the printer think it has a collection of virtual trays.

Modify the PPD file

The printer's definition is stored in something called a PPD file installed with the driver. Here is how you modify it:

Find the PPD file that matches your printer in this folder:

C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3

At the end, you can add this line and save it:

*InputSlot Tray1/Tray 1: ""

Try printing again and see if you have a "Tray 1"?
